Students of Geetanjali International School Mandur celebrating United Nations Day with flags from around the world

Every year on 24 October, the world remembers the day the United Nations was founded in 1945. For most adults, it sounds like a lesson from an old history book. For a child in a classroom, it can be something much more personal: the first time they understand that the world is huge, that people live very differently from them, and that all of us share one planet.

At Geetanjali International School Mandur, we like to make that moment feel real, not remote.

What does “united” mean to a child?

Ask a six-year-old to explain what the United Nations does, and you will hear something like, “It’s when everyone says sorry and plays together.” Honestly, that is not far off.

The big idea behind the UN is that people solve problems better by talking than by fighting. Children understand this instantly because they live it every day, on the playground, in group work, and at the lunch table. Our job as a school is to take that instinct and strengthen it, so it grows into empathy, respect and the confidence to speak up.

On United Nations Day, our classrooms turn into a small map of the world. Students represent different countries, learn about their food, festivals and everyday life, and discover how many things they share with children thousands of kilometres away. Older students look at global goals like clean water, quality education and climate action, and then ask the question that matters most: what can we do about this right here, in our own school and neighbourhood?

Leadership is a skill, not a title

Parents today are not only asking about marks. They want to know whether a school will help their child become confident, kind and capable. That is why we put real weight on a life skills and leadership programme, something every parent in Bangalore schools should look for.

For us, that means:

  • Younger children practise sharing, listening and speaking in front of a group.
  • Middle school students take responsibility through clubs, projects and student-led activities.
  • Senior students learn to debate, negotiate and disagree respectfully, which is exactly the spirit of the United Nations.

A child who learns to lead with kindness at fourteen is far better prepared for college and work than one who has only memorised answers.

CBSE vs Cambridge: which is better for my child?

This is the question we hear most from parents visiting our campus, and it deserves an honest answer. CBSE vs Cambridge: which is better for my child? There is no single winner. The right choice depends on your child.

CBSE offers a clear, structured syllabus, strong alignment with national entrance exams, and a trusted path for students planning to study in India.

Cambridge places more emphasis on application, critical thinking and independent learning, and carries international recognition that can open doors to universities abroad.

As a CBSE and Cambridge school in Mandur, we do not push parents toward one answer. We sit down with you, understand your child’s strengths and interests, and help you choose a pathway that keeps learning joyful while keeping long-term goals in view.

A school that families across East Bangalore trust

Our families come from many parts of the city. Some began their search for the best CBSE school in Mandur Bangalore. Others were looking for the best international school in East Bangalore that did not mean a draining daily commute.

Parents working in the Whitefield tech corridor often tell us they wanted a CBSE school near Whitefield with a more global outlook. Families around KR Puram, who are looking at a Cambridge IGCSE school near KR Puram, appreciate that our Cambridge pathway begins early and builds step by step. And for those living in Budigere Cross and Hoskote, we are proud to be a CBSE school near Budigere Cross and Hoskote where children can learn close to home.

From one day of celebration to a lifetime of values

United Nations Day will come around again next October. What we hope stays with our students all year is what it stands for: choosing understanding over assumption, and dialogue over disagreement.

If you would like your child to grow up confident, caring and globally aware, we would love to welcome you to our campus.
