Child Safety Policy

At Geetanjali International School, the safety, dignity, and wellbeing of every child is our highest priority. This Child Safety Policy outlines the principles, procedures, and safeguards we follow to ensure our campus in Mandur, East Bangalore remains a secure, nurturing environment for every student.

Our Commitment

Geetanjali International School is committed to providing an environment where children are protected from all forms of abuse, neglect, harassment, and exploitation, physical, emotional, or digital. This policy applies to all staff, faculty, visitors, vendors, transport personnel, and volunteers who interact with students on or off campus.

Legal Framework

Our policy is aligned with:

  • The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012
  • The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act, 2009
  • Guidelines issued by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE)
  • Applicable state and national child protection regulations

Staff Screening & Recruitment

  • All teaching and non-teaching staff undergo thorough background verification, including police verification and reference checks, prior to appointment.
  • Staff are trained on child protection protocols, POCSO compliance, and appropriate conduct with students as part of onboarding and periodic refresher sessions.
  • A signed Code of Conduct, explicitly covering child safety expectations, is mandatory for all employees, contractors, and transport staff.

Code of Conduct

All staff and visitors are expected to:

  • Treat every child with respect, dignity, and fairness, regardless of background
  • Avoid any form of physical punishment, verbal abuse, or humiliation
  • Maintain appropriate physical and digital boundaries with students at all times
  • Report any concern about a child’s safety or wellbeing immediately, without fear of reprisal

Campus Safety Measures

  • CCTV surveillance across key areas of the campus, including entry/exit points, corridors, and common areas
  • Controlled campus access — all visitors are required to sign in, display identification, and are accompanied at all times
  • Trained security personnel on duty during school hours and transport operations
  • Regular fire, health, and safety drills conducted throughout the academic year

Transport Safety

  • All school transport vehicles are staffed with a trained attendant in addition to the driver
  • Drivers and attendants undergo background verification prior to appointment
  • GPS tracking is enabled on school transport for real-time monitoring
  • A clear pick-up/drop-off verification process is followed to ensure no child is released to an unauthorized individual

Digital & Online Safety

  • Internet access on campus is filtered and monitored to prevent exposure to inappropriate content
  • Staff are guided on appropriate use of digital communication with students and families
  • Students are educated on responsible digital citizenship, online safety, and identifying inappropriate online behavior as part of our Life Skills curriculum

Anti-Bullying Measures

Geetanjali International School maintains a zero-tolerance approach to bullying in any form — physical, verbal, or online. Students, staff, and parents are encouraged to report incidents through the channels outlined below, and all reported concerns are addressed promptly and confidentially.

Reporting a Concern

Any student, parent, staff member, or visitor who has a concern about a child’s safety or wellbeing is strongly encouraged to report it immediately through any of the following channels:

  • Speaking directly with the Principal or a member of the Leadership Team
  • Contacting our designated Child Protection Officer
  • Writing to our official school email or using the confidential reporting form available at the school office

All concerns are treated with the highest confidentiality and are investigated promptly in accordance with applicable law and school protocol. No child, parent, or staff member will face retaliation for raising a genuine concern in good faith.

Grievance Redressal

Geetanjali International School has a designated Child Protection Committee responsible for reviewing reported concerns, ensuring appropriate action is taken, and maintaining ongoing compliance with child safety regulations. Parents may reach out to the admissions or administrative office for details on the grievance redressal process.
