July Chronicles at GIS: A Tapestry of Learning, Leadership & Celebration

At Geetanjali International School, learning is a living, breathing experience that unfolds each day — in the classroom, on the playground, on stage, and in the quiet moments of reflection.

July 2025 was no ordinary month. It was a chapter filled with curious minds, creative hands, confident voices, and compassionate hearts. From assessments and elections to cultural days and environmental awareness, our learners embraced every opportunity with enthusiasm and maturity. Let’s turn the pages of this unforgettable month together.

Reflecting & Resetting: First Formative Assessment

July month’s journey began with the completion of our first Formative Assessment — a significant milestone not just in academics, but in shaping a deeper awareness of self-learning. Unlike high-stakes exams, these assessments are diagnostic in nature. They help us understand how students learn, what they’ve grasped, and where support is needed.

Every student received individualised feedback from their facilitators — not just a score, but a direction. For those needing extra support, we’ve begun targeted remedial sessions designed to address concept gaps, reinforce understanding, and rebuild confidence. Our goal is not to race ahead but to bring everyone along.

Because at GIS, we don’t just assess — we adjust, we adapt, and we uplift.

Paper Bag Day: Small Acts, Big Change

PAPER BAG

Imagine a room full of eager hands folding newspapers into bags, their faces lit with purpose — this was Paper Bag Day at GIS. Led by our Sustainability Club, the initiative was a hands-on lesson in environmental consciousness. Students discussed the dangers of plastic pollution, the benefits of eco-friendly alternatives, and their own responsibility in building a greener future.

They didn’t just make bags — they made promises. To reuse, to refuse plastic, and to become Earth’s ambassadors in their own way.

Culture & Identity: The Stories That Shape Us

CULTURE

July’s Theme of the Month, Culture and Identity, invited our learners to look inward and express outward. What makes us who we are? Where do we come from? What traditions, languages, and stories live in our homes?

Our little ones answered these questions not with words alone, but with songs, traditional dances, food displays, and family tales. Clad in colourful attire from their heritage, they took to the stage with pride and grace — proving that understanding one’s roots is the first step to embracing the world.

Parents were moved. Teachers were inspired. And our young learners? They became storytellers of their own legacy.

The Election Buzz: Student Council 2025

Democracy found a proud home at GIS this month. The Student Council Elections were a spectacular showcase of leadership, public speaking, teamwork, and fair play.

Aspiring candidates designed campaigns, delivered persuasive speeches, and demonstrated real courage by standing up for what they believe in. The air was electric on Election Day — ballot boxes ready, polling booths set, and students lining up to vote with gleaming eyes and a sense of responsibility.

After a fierce yet friendly competition, our elected representatives took their oaths with integrity. The new Student Council is now ready to serve — to lead with humility, act with fairness, and become the voice of their peers.

Pi Day: Where Numbers Meet Fun

Who knew math could be so mouthwatering? Pi Day brought fun and fascination to our primary and middle school learners as they explored the magical number 𝜋 through games, art, and yes — pie!

Students measured circular objects, memorised digits of pi, created Pi-themed crafts, and even made edible pies to celebrate the infinite possibilities of math. It was a joyful blend of creativity and calculation that made even the math-averse smile.

Because at GIS, we make learning a celebration — one slice at a time.

National Mango Day: Sweet Learning for Sweet Minds

For our youngest learners in Early Years, National Mango Day was a feast for the senses. They touched, tasted, painted, and sang about mangoes — the king of fruits. Teachers introduced them to the different varieties, colours, and textures of mangoes, weaving in early concepts like adjectives, sorting, and even storytelling.

The mango wasn’t just a fruit that day — it became a tool for language, science, and joy.

Vive la France! Celebrating La Fête Nationale

We ended the month on a high note — with a visit to France, right here on campus! In honour of La Fête Nationale (French National Day), our learners were transported to the charming streets of Paris, the rhythms of French music, and the warmth of French culture.

Students participated in a mini-French market, explored famous landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and Louvre through creative projects, and sampled French snacks. Facilitators led basic French greetings and songs, turning the classroom into a lively Francophone corner.

It wasn’t just about France — it was about celebrating languages, connections, and the beauty of cultural exchange.

The Final Word: We Don’t Just Teach — We Transform

July reminded us of what’s possible when students are given space to think, tools to create, and opportunities to lead. It reminded us that learning can be joyful, deep, and meaningful — all at once.

From assessments that built resilience to activities that sparked purpose, from stages that celebrated identity to elections that built character — our learners are growing into the compassionate changemakers we envision them to be.

As we step into a new month, we carry forward the momentum, magic, and memories of July — ready for more stories to unfold.
